Odyssey
A reading and math game for grades 3 to 8, built as a school year of expeditions. Beta.
What it is
Each campaign is five missions: climb a mountain, build a saber, keep a lighthouse. Each day is one mission of about twenty minutes: a short passage to read with questions, a few math problems, and one follow-the-steps task. A companion character guides it. Reading comprehension gets the most room on purpose, and the math is set to the grade the player picks, anywhere from grade 3 to grade 8.
It is optional. It is meant to be enjoyed. A day missed is just a day missed.
What it collects
- Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-in and no ads, and nothing is ever sold to a child.
- Progress is saved on this device, and nowhere else. It never leaves the device on its own.
- After the first load it fetches nothing but its own adventure files from praxis-hq.ai as they are opened, and works offline once they are in; nothing about the child is ever sent.
- A parent can choose to send a report (first-try rates by skill, and a class code that packs the same numbers small) to the child's teacher, or to themselves, from the parent area, which is behind a code the parent sets. Sending opens the parent's own share sheet or Mail; the parent chooses the recipient. Children's results never come to the Odyssey team. The only thing that does is feedback an adult chooses to send with the Feedback button in Settings: their words, the app version and an anonymous error log.
For teachers and parents
- Open the link on any device with a browser. On an iPad, Share then Add to Home Screen makes it open like an app.
- There is also an app for iPad and iPhone on the App Store; the web edition and the app are the same game.
- The web edition is a beta through September 30, 2026; the app carries on from there.
- The first time, the game asks the child for a callsign: a nickname the companion uses. A first name is fine; a full name is not needed.
- The Parent tab asks you to set a four-digit code the first time. Behind it: what was done, first-try rates by skill, and a plain-English read of where the ground is soft.
- If a teacher gave you a beta code, enter it in Settings so reports can be grouped without names.
- Questions or problems: hello@praxis-hq.ai.
- The full privacy policy and terms. Both are short, because there is nothing to collect.
The teacher's class page reads a code from a screen with jsQR, by cozmo and contributors, used under the Apache License 2.0; the license text is published beside it at qr-decode.LICENSE.txt. Nothing else on this site is anyone else's code.
Made by Adam, independent developer. Praxis is the brand. All characters and stories are original.
