Roofing Expert stores your inspection reports and photos on your device. We do not collect, receive, sell, or share your data, and we do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
Two things do leave the device, and both are described in full below. Storm checking sends an approximate location and a date to weather services, so the App can tell you what the weather did at a property on a given day. And the optional Company Sync feature, which is off unless you turn it on, stores the reports you publish in your own Apple iCloud account so the people you invite can open them. Neither sends anything to us.
On your device, always. Inspection reports, the photos you capture, measurements, notes, customer name and address, carrier and claim number if you enter them, and your app settings are stored on the device. If you use iCloud Backup, your device’s backup may include them, in the same way it includes other app data. That backup is controlled by you in iOS Settings.
Roofing Expert can tell you what the weather did at a property on a particular day. To do that it asks public weather services about a location.
What is sent: an approximate latitude and longitude, and a date. The coordinates are deliberately rounded to two decimal places — roughly one kilometer — before they leave the device. That is precise enough to place a storm and not precise enough to place a house.
What is not sent: no name, no street address, no carrier or claim number, no report contents, no photographs, and no identifier for you or your device. The request contains the rounded coordinate and the date, and nothing else about the job.
Those requests go to two independent services, each operating under its own privacy policy and not controlled by us:
Hail radar works differently and is worth stating plainly: the App downloads a national radar archive file from NOAA’s public dataset by date only, and reads the value for your location on your device. No coordinates are sent for that request.
Storm checking does not depend on Company Sync. It works whether Company Sync is on or off, so “off by default” describes Company Sync and not location generally. If you never use storm checking, no location leaves the device this way.
Company Sync is off by default. Turning it on lets you publish reports to a shared company area so that people you invite can open them.
When you publish a report with Company Sync on, the following is written to your own iCloud account, in a storage container used only by Roofing Expert:
This uses Apple’s CloudKit service under your own Apple Account. We have no server, no account system of our own, and no ability to read what is stored there.
A company owner invites people by sending them a share link. Anyone who accepts that invitation can open the reports in that company’s shared area, subject to the role the owner gives them: a read-only member can view but not change reports, and a read-write member can also make changes. Those permissions are enforced by Apple’s sharing system, not only by the App.
Sharing a report shares what is in it — including the customer name and address, and the photo capture locations described above. Please consider that before inviting someone.
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your payment details. Apple tells the App only whether a subscription is currently active.
Because your data is on your device and, if you use Company Sync, in your own iCloud account, you control it:
We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Roofing Expert is a professional tool for roofing inspection and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Because we do not collect your information, there is no data held by us for you to access, correct, export, or have deleted. Your reports and photos are yours, on your device and in your own Apple Account, and the App lets you export them at any time.
If the App changes what it does with information, this page will be updated and the effective date above changed with it.
