Common questions

Where is my data stored? On your device. Five things can leave your device, and only if you use the feature that needs them.

• Storm weather and storm reports. We send the property’s location rounded to about a kilometer — enough to place a storm, not enough to place a house — to Open-Meteo’s historical weather archive and to Iowa State University’s Iowa Environmental Mesonet, for National Weather Service storm reports.
• Hail radar. Nothing about your property is sent. The app downloads a national radar file and reads it on your device.
• The map and the address lookup. When Roofing Expert draws the property map, it asks Apple Maps to turn the address you typed into a location and to supply the satellite image. The address goes to Apple as you entered it, and the map then loads imagery around that location.
• iCloud sync, if you turn it on. Your reports sync to your own iCloud account.
• Company sync, if you join a company. Reports you send to the company go to that company’s shared iCloud area, where your crew can read them.

Everything else — photos, measurements, signatures, the report itself — stays on the device until you export or share it. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail; we never see your data, because we run no servers.

A report shows red flags — is something wrong? No. Flags mark fields that are still empty (like a claim number that hasn't been issued yet). Reports always save; flags clear as you fill things in.

Photos aren't GPS-stamped. Allow Location access (While Using) in Settings → Roofing Expert.
